Leading national engineering specialist, SES Engineering Services is celebrating after winning three industry awards recognising its world-class offsite manufacturing capabilities at the Quadram Institute in Norwich as well as its outstanding health and safety record on projects across the UK.
The company’s £18m project to deliver full mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services on the Institute, located at the heart of the Norwich Research Park, was awarded the Best Use of MEP & Pod Technology at the national Offsite Awards. The business has also won the prestigious Construction News Specialist Awards’ Project of the Year (subcontract over £6m) for its work on the Queensferry Crossing in Scotland as well as the International Safety Award from the British Safety Council for the 22nd year running.
The contemporary and purpose-designed Quadram Institute will house research teams from the Institute of Food Research, the University of East Anglia as well as Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. SES’ use of time and cost saving offsite manufacturing and pre-fabrication on the project was critical to the success and on-time and budget delivery of the complex project.
The annual Offsite Awards recognised the project as a stellar example of innovation and best practice. With over 200 exemplary entries packed full of pioneering projects, innovative products and inspirational people – this year’s independent panel of judges felt SES’ work stood out.

The award recognised the company’s work on the Queensferry Crossing – now the longest three-tower, cable-stayed bridge in the world and the centrepiece of the Scottish Government’s unprecedented £1.35 billion upgrade to the cross-Forth transport corridor.
SES’ International Safety Award win recognized its commitment to keeping its workers and workplaces healthy and safe during the 2017 calendar year.

The business is in the running for the prestigious Specialist Contractor of the Year category at the Construction News Awards 2018 set to be held in London in July. SES is also shortlisted in the Offsite and the Health, Safety and Wellbeing categories at the Constructing Excellence London & South East Awards 2018.
