Emily Marner, Project Engineer, was awarded the ‘Yorkshire Young Engineer of the Year Award’. Emily who has been with SES for nine years joined the company as an apprentice and has completed her HNC and HND and is currently studying at Leeds Beckett University for a BSC in Building Services.
Following a nomination by Brunel University, London, where he is currently studying for an MSC in Building Services Engineering with Sustainable Energy, Building Physics Engineering Manager, Nick Darling, was awarded ‘Yorkshire Region Student Engineer of the Year Award’.
Speaking about the pair’s success, Jason Knights, Managing Director, SES said:
“At SES we are dedicated to developing young talent for our Business creating opportunities for people to work in this fantastic industry. Our continued investment with both our graduate and our ongoing apprenticeship programme will ensure SES has the right skills in an ever-changing world working on many aspects of the “Built Environment”.
“Emily and Nick winning these two prestigious awards is testament not only to their hard work and endeavours, but the success of our training programme. Congratulations go to them both from myself and the rest of the SES team.”
Thrilled by the win and to receive such professional acknowledgement, Emily, who has gained experience working on major student accommodation projects in Hull and pharmaceutical projects in the north east, said:
“I’m absolutely delighted, if not a little shocked, to have won this award. Nick and I have received great support from everyone at SES and the company’s depth of experience across both the design and installation of building services has been invaluable to us both.”
SES currently employs 27 trainees who are all working towards varying levels of qualification from trade apprenticeships to degree level.
