As the COVID-19 crisis evolves, we will continue to develop our approach and keep our stakeholders updated. Our Group Crisis Management Team meets regularly to keep our understanding of what is happening current and to enable SES Engineering Services (SES) to respond to changes swiftly.
Our sector plays a central role in the UK economy and in millions of people’s lives so we support the UK Government’s decision to encourage the construction and infrastructure industry to continue operating where it can do so safely.
OUR APPROACH
Implementing new Site Operating Procedures
Our sites and contracts remain operational where we are able to implement SES’ COVID-19 Site Operating Procedures (which are fully aligned to the latest UK Government guidelines), in a way that ensures the health, safety and wellbeing of all those who work for and with us. All our project and contract teams have business continuity arrangements in place.
Supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of our people
To support increased remote working, we are providing additional support, guidance and advice to help staff work from home and to look after their mental and physical wellbeing.
Before restarting work within our non-operational office environments, we will:
- Identify what work activity or situations might cause transmission of the virus
- Think about who could be at risk
- Decide how likely it is that someone could be exposed
- Act to remove the activity or situation, or if this isn’t possible, control the risk.
We will consult with our employees on the measures we put in place and share the results of our risk assessments.
Testing our IT systems to support remote working
We have tested our IT systems thoroughly to ensure that employees working from home are able to do so efficiently. As part of our business continuity plans, we have data and system back-up and recovery procedures in place.
Communicating daily with our employees
We are communicating with our employees on a daily basis to keep them informed about the latest advice and guidance and about what SES is doing to protect the business.
Using the UK Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme
Where projects and contracts are temporarily closed, paused or are unable to run at full capacity as a result of COVID-19, we have made use of the UK Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (or furloughing). Our use of this scheme is being reviewed on an ongoing basis.
OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19 RISK MANAGEMENT
The graphic below illustrates our Group-wide approach to COVID-19 risk management, to minimise and wherever possible, eliminate the risk of viral contamination.
