Working alongside the main contractor, who is acting on behalf of the Dixons City Academy Charitable Trust in conjunction with Bradford Education Services, SES has secured its place on the development of the Dixons McMillan Academy, Bradford.
SES will provide both the design and installation on a full range of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services as well as HVAC systems to deliver the 6,500 sqm project which will see the refurbishment and extension of an existing building on the former Bradford College site.
This transformative and ambitious project will create new teaching spaces and a sports hall as well as an innovative multi-use ‘heart space’ designed to enclose the existing semi-courtyard entrance area by providing a new glass frontage and entrance to the building.
Construction on the Academy is being carried out over two phases, with the first phase due to conclude in September prior to the start of the new academic year. Phase Two, which will create the ‘heart’ space, will conclude in November this year. The Academy will eventually have 720 pupils by the time it reaches its full capacity by 2020.
SES has worked with Interserve on a number of projects across both the education and commercial property sectors. The most recently completed scheme was a major phased extension of Corpus Christi Catholic College, delivered under the Leeds Building Schools for the Future initiative.

The project, which has been funded by the Education Funding Agency, was procured via the YORbuild regional framework.
SES recently became the first Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Services contractor (MEP) to achieve BRE Accredited BIM Level 2 Certification, one month ahead of the government’s public sector project compliance deadline.
