SES Engineering Services (SES), the UK’s leading national engineering specialist, has announced a multi-million-pound contract win for its North East office working with main contractor, Tolent.
Boosting its order book with this latest win, SES has been appointed to deliver mechanical, electrical and plumbing services on Phase One of Milburngate, the prestigious mixed-use regeneration scheme on site in Durham city centre.
The 450 sqm landmark scheme currently under development is set to transform a six-acre site on the historic city’s riverside.
Milburngate is being delivered by the Arlington Richardson Development Partnership, a partnership which has a proven track record of successfully delivering strategically important regeneration projects across the North East. Past projects include Freemans Reach, an office development which houses Her Majesty’s Passport Office and National Savings and Investments, and DurhamGate, a 90-acre mixed-use scheme and one of County Durham’s largest regeneration projects.
Phase One, which accounts for 70 per cent of the entire Milburngate scheme, will create 60,000 sqft of retail and leisure space, which will become home to leading brands including restaurant and bar operators, Miller and Carter and Pitcher and Piano and a 92-bed Premier Inn hotel as well as an Everyman boutique cinema. Moving away from the retail and leisure outlets, 5,000 sqm of speculative office accommodation and 153 luxury build-to-rent apartments as well as 600 parking spaces will also be created.
Speaking about its appointment to work with Tolent on such a prestigious scheme, SES’ business director North and Scotland, Steve Joyce, said:
